The National Board of Examinations has published the Class 12 results on Friday. Along with this, students who have passed the secondary level are ready to open the doors of the university.

Students can decide which faculty and which subject to choose according to their interest. Now most of the universities have started the admission process.

So, today we are discussing information technology (IT) among the various educational programs offered at the undergraduate level. Recently, in Nepal too, the interest of students in educational programs related to information technology has increased.

As the field of computer and software technology continues to expand, new courses are being created based on it. Some of these courses related to computer and information technology are closely related to computer science, some are related to information technology and some are related to computer engineering.

And there are many options for students to study such courses. Nepal has educational programs and colleges from domestic universities to foreign universities. But most of the students are in dilemma in choosing the subject and college.

Therefore, we are giving information about how to choose a suitable course and college before studying IT program.

1. Understand relationships and recognition

First of all, find out from which university the college you want to study is affiliated to. After that, what is the syllabus of the IT course, whether there is a course to address the latest demands and needs of the IT industry, whether the course is updated from time to time, credit hours etc.

If you are clear about this matter, now check whether the IT course you are going to study is recognized (accredited) by other universities or not. Also, if you wish to study in another university during your studies, you should also know whether there is credit transfer or not.

2. Know the infrastructure and facilities of the college

Understand the internal situation of the college you want to join. College environment plays an important role in making your IT career successful. Pay attention to the structure of the college, transportation facilities, scholarship facilities, labs, libraries and other resources needed for quality studies. Also, check the results of the college earlier.

3. Find out about internship, professional training and job placement facilities

As IT itself is practical and practical education, study what activities the college has been doing for internship, training, job placement etc. along with studies. Also, understand whether the college has collaborated with companies and organizations in the IT industry. College can play a big role in establishing your IT career in the industry so you should be careful about these things.

4. Understand the fees

If you don't like the college and IT course, you can't get admission in the college if you don't like the fees. Therefore, study the total cost of studying the course you want, whether there is a scholarship or not.

Currently, there are colleges in Nepal that charge between 4/5 lakh to 13/14 lakh for studying IT at the undergraduate level.

You will find a difference in the fees of the colleges affiliated to the universities of the country and the universities abroad. Choose the appropriate college keeping in mind the financial condition of the family.
