Keeping fish in an aquarium is not only fun but also faith. What is the belief in Nepali society that 'keeping fish is auspicious.' It is a popular belief that seeing a fish when you wake up in the morning or before leaving the house is 'auspicious'.

Rajan Puri, owner of SR Aqua and Pet House, says that the fish are attractive, gentle and dynamic, and create excitement and excitement in people's hearts when they see them.

There is not a small group of people who keep fish in aquariums for the beauty of their homes and for the well-being of their hearts. According to Puri, in Kathmandu alone, more than one lakh households have been continuously raising fish in aquariums. They are not only fond of fish, but also spend it with open mind.

Puri says that in order to keep fish in an aquarium, one should have knowledge about its species, fish diet and care. "That's why they are not raising fish just for the sake of appearance," says Puri, "they have good knowledge and passion about it."

Goldie, kohi, moligupi, zebradanio, red cap aranda, tetra, flower horn, red tall shark, angel, silver dollar and betta fish of many species are kept in the aquarium.

A fish worth two lakhs

There are 140 species of fish in the Nepali market, which can be decorated in aquariums. Generally, these fish cost from 150 rupees to 3000 rupees per head. However, such fish are also bought and sold in the Nepali market, the price of which ranges from 25,000 to 200,000 rupees.

Like, Asian Arowana. According to Puri, this species of fish costs between one and a half to two lakh rupees. Soukhin is also here to keep such expensive fish. "Even in Kathmandu, some people have bred Asian Arowana fish," says Puri, "while its market value is up to two lakh rupees." Asian Arowana comes in different colors. Color also comes down to its price.

Why are millions worth of fish kept?

"This is a rare species," says Puri, "it looks good at first glance and it is believed that looking at this fish is auspicious." He says that the Asian Arowana can live up to 30 years if properly cared for.

Also, their life expectancy varies according to the species of fish. Generally, the lifespan of fish is up to five years. According to Puri, how long a fish lives depends on how well it is cared for.

Architecture and fish

According to Vastu Shastra, keeping fish in the house will flow positive energy to the family members. It is believed to be auspicious if you look at the fish or feed the fish before leaving the house. Vastu Shastra dictates what kind and how much fish should be reared. According to this, it is good to keep one black fish and eight golden colored fish.

"After seeing fish, one's heart is happy and calm," says Puri, "so it inspires to make the environment of the house better."

He says that while watching the movements and motion of the fish, people become engrossed in it and it reduces stress. "It not only relieves people from pain but also relieves them from mental problems like anxiety," says Puri.

How much does it cost to prepare an aquarium?

Generally, it takes at least two to three thousand rupees to prepare an aquarium. People can spend anything above this according to their needs and budget. In the aquarium, oxygen flow motor, filter, artificial plants, lights, stones are kept for the fish.

Puri says that the fish should not be kept with many colorful stones or plants. Similarly, fish do not like very bright light. Feed the fish in small amounts. It is enough to give a small amount of fodder twice a day.

"While preparing the aquarium, one should pay attention to the parameters, filter and water temperature," Puri says, "30 percent of the water in the aquarium should be replaced every seven or 10 days. Water should be free of chlorine. You don't have to spend a lot to keep fish. Two-and-a-half hundred grains can be kept for two months.

Nepali also keep millions of dogs

Also, the relationship between humans and dogs is not current, since the Stone Age, there has been a close relationship between these two animals. The man who walks through the forest and lives in the den made the dog his friend. From hunting wild animals to protecting people, dogs have been providing constant support. Therefore, there is a popular opinion in the human community that there is no other friend as loyal as a dog.

Along with the story of loyalty, sometimes people used dogs for scientific research and sometimes for crime investigation. Nowadays, people are looking for the companionship of dogs to get rid of loneliness along with security. That's why people have started spending money on dogs and bringing different breeds of dogs into their homes.

Now in Nepal, there are many breeders of dogs like Japanese Spitz, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Pug, Labrador, Cocker Spaniel, Boxer. Where is that only? They are willing to spend a lot of money for the grooming, training, food, hostel, etc. of these dogs.

There are also many breeders of expensive dogs like Bull Dog, Tibetan Mastiff, Samoyed, Pomorian, whose price is around one lakh rupees. Pravin Bajracharya of K Nine Dog Training and Care Center says, "Dogs are being bought and sold for at least five thousand to four lakh rupees in Nepal."

According to Bajracharya, Japanese spices are generally preferred by many. It is available for five thousand rupees. Then Pug, German Shepherd, Husky, Great Dane were bred. The price of these breeds ranges from 30 thousand to 1 lakh rupees.

Many parents bring dogs into their homes to make their children happy. They keep it inside the house and play with the dog. For some, the dog has become a friend of loneliness.

With the increasing popularity of dogs, not only kennel clubs, but also dog shops, dog clinics, dog hostels, and dog care centers are operating in the market. The business of various types of nutritious food, toys, clothes etc. for dogs is increasing. Along with this, dog care centers are being opened to groom and train dogs.

Most people prefer family dogs, who live together in the family. Some people also keep dogs for home security. There are also some types of dogs, which can be kept by the physically challenged as their helpers. Such dogs do everything from finding the way, guiding them to saving them in emergency situations.

The Family Dog

People made dogs as companions for home security and hunting wild animals. But now, more than protection and hunting, the presence of dogs as a friend is increasing. Children especially want to pet dogs.

Many parents bring dogs into their homes to make their children happy. They keep it inside the house and play with the dog. For some, the dog has become a friend of loneliness.

Also, there are many breeds of dogs that can be kept as 'family dogs'. Like Japanese Spitz, Labrador, Pug, Chihuahua, Husky, Golden Retriever, etc., they get along with the family quickly and are happy.

The guard dog

Some people keep dogs because of the fear of theft or robbery or the fear of strangers or animals entering the house. Such dogs are used for home security. German shepherd, doorman, labrador, boxer, bulldog breed dogs are suitable for home security. In the village, dogs of any breed are kept for the protection of the house.

There are some myths and stories in Nepali society, which speak of the loyalty of dogs. All of them have the same essence, the dog protects its owner regardless of any danger.

Training the dog

After bringing the dog home, they can defecate randomly, eat anything, break flowers. "However, this behavior only occurs at a young age or if it is not properly nurtured," says Bajracharya, "dogs should be given basic training."

A dog can be trained to urinate in a certain place. Likewise, their eating schedule and sleeping place can also be fixed. Dogs do all these things correctly, depending on the general training. It doesn't hurt the landlord.

It can be trained not to eat anything or run anywhere while taking it outside the house. According to Bajracharya, the dog should be given basic training on how to blend into the family environment. If dogs are well trained, they are disciplined and loyal. After basic training, it is easier if you have to take the dog outside.

Besides, there are also places for training and caring for dogs in the city. A dog is charged 15,000 to 20,000 rupees for training.

Vaccination and care of the dog

Vaccines such as DHPPIL, rabies, and corona should be given to dogs from the age of 45 days. A second dose should be given one month after vaccination. These vaccines should be given every year.

The dog should also be given deworming medicine every three months according to its weight. Spaying should be done at the age of 6 to 7 months. Vaccination costs 1200 to 1500 rupees annually. If you are sick at other times, you have to spend extra.

Many people keep dogs to fulfill their happiness. However, Bajracharya says that hobby alone is not enough. "If you can give the dog time, don't make him play and have fun with him, don't have time to give him proper care, then you should get a dog," he says.

Bajracharya says that after having a dog at home, you should give enough time for it too. He says that you need to know what to feed the dog, how much to feed, how to feed it, when to bathe it, what kind of medicine to treat, and how to teach it to talk.

"Dogs should be vaccinated regularly, fed properly," says Bajracharya, "you should also play with them and talk to them."

What are the needs of dog owners? For what purpose are you going to adopt a dog? How to care for a dog? You should know things like that. Bajracharya says, 'It is not right to keep the dog tied up in the house or in the cage.'

Things that dog owners should be aware of

For those who want to keep a dog, it is better to choose a breed according to the home environment or place. If there is not enough open space in the house, it is advisable to keep a small dog with a short height. Large breed dogs like German Shepherd, Boxer Doorman need a lot of space to jump and play, so it is better if they have a small space. When raising a dog, you should pay attention to its health. For health checkup, you have to go to the hospital from time to time for vaccination.

Care should be taken to see if his body is getting enough nutrition and exercise. The next most important thing is training, he needs training to mingle with family members.

Dog breeders

Some have kept dogs blindly or blindly. They do not care how to raise a dog, what kind of care should be taken. Also, there is no information about possible health problems in dogs and their treatment. Seeing that only others keep them, they also want to bring in dogs.
