Passwords of 1 million Facebook users stolen from 400 mobile apps
Meta has warned its 1 million Facebook users that their passwords have been stolen. The company claims that third-party apps on Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store have stolen the passwords of one million Facebook users.
According to the company, there are more than 400 such apps so far. According to the company, most of the apps include photo editors, camera apps, VPNs, horoscope apps and fitness tracking. While downloading these apps, the user's Facebook password was stolen after logging in with their Facebook ID.
Meta reported that the password was stolen when users were logging in from Facebook as they had to log in to use the app. The company has mentioned that although these infected apps are found in both app stores, many malicious apps are in the Play Store.
Most of the malicious apps found on Android were user-friendly apps. However, only 47 iOS apps found were commercial apps, business management apps, meta business apps, Facebook analytics apps, ad business knowledge, and other apps related to Facebook's business.
Google and Apple have claimed that all the apps detected by Meta have been removed from the store. Meanwhile, Meta has started notifying users whose passwords have been stolen.
