Hepatitis: Why, how and who gets it?

In colloquial language, hepatitis is also called 'jaundice'. Hepatitis is mostly caused by viruses. But sometimes it is also caused by bacteria or side effects of medicine. Hepatitis caused by viruses or bacteria can cause serious problems.

Hepatitis is of two types, chronic and acute. The early stage of hepatitis is called acute, while the chronic problem is called chronic. The initial stage of hepatitis lasts for the first three months. If it is not treated even for six months, it takes the form of chronic hepatitis.

If the body starts turning yellow with hepatitis in the initial stage, if it is not treated in the right way, it starts to take a chronic form. Even after that, if hepatitis is not treated properly, it will turn into cirrhosis of the liver, which will damage the entire liver. Liver cancer can also be caused by this.

Generally, there are five types of hepatitis A, B, C, D and E. Among them, Hepatitis B is considered to be the most deadly. Hepatitis V can damage the liver and cause death.

Hepatitis A, B and C patients are more common among hepatitis patients.

Symptoms of hepatitis?

1. fever

2. Nausea, vomiting

3. Reluctance to eat

4. Liver pain

5. Pale body

6. Feeling extremely tired

Causes of hepatitis?

If bilirubin increases in the blood, people will develop hepatitis. In case of hepatitis, the body starts to look yellow. Hepatitis infection in the body is caused by various reasons. This disease is easily transmitted from one person to another due to water, use of poisonous needles, unsafe physical relations, etc.

Among them, hepatitis A and E are spread due to contaminated water and food.

Hepatitis A and E

Hepatitis A is a chronic infectious disease. It is also called viral hepatitis. Liver infection is caused by entero virus infection. When the liver cannot filter bilirubin, hepatitis occurs. It is the least serious of hepatitis. Since hepatitis A is an infectious disease, people who come in contact with it are most at risk.

Its infection is more due to contaminated water. This problem is caused by contaminated water and contaminated food. Generally, this disease is cured in 3 to 4 weeks. While the risk is higher in pregnant women. It is also called jaundice.

Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B is a disease caused by the virus. It is also called serum hepatitis. This disease spreads from one person to another due to blood, spit, urine, semen, physical contact etc. The risk of this disease is also higher in drug users. Hepatitis B is more dangerous than A. Liver cirrhosis is more likely in people with hepatitis.

Hepatitis C?

Hepatitis C is a disease related to the liver. Hepatitis C is caused by the infection of the virus called Hepatitis C. Its infection completely damages the liver. It is very difficult to know its symptoms in the initial stage. However, it is very important to know about its symptoms.

If hepatitis C is not treated on time, it can have long-term effects on people. About 75 to 85 percent of people with hepatitis C develop severe infection. Which can not only damage the liver but also liver cancer, liver cirrhosis. As a result, people may have to undergo a liver transplant.

How to know hepatitis:

By checking the blood and identifying the symptoms, it is possible to know whether hepatitis is present or not. If hepatitis is known, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Preventive measures?

Any hepatitis disease is detected through blood test. If you have hepatitis, the treatment depends on the disease. But prevention of any disease is the best way. For that, it is important to pay attention to various things.

1. Preventing disease in the body

2. Do not consume contaminated water and food

3. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating

4. Stay clean

5. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly with clean water before consuming them

6. Before drinking water during rainy season, boil it well or drink only boiled water.

7. If the water is not boiling, use chlorine in the water

8. If you are expecting a mother, get vaccinated against hepatitis during pregnancy as per your doctor's advice

9. Also vaccinate your child against hepatitis

10. If you are going to the hospital, use a new needle. Do not have unprotected sex.

If hepatitis is not treated in time, it will damage the liver

The liver fights against infections by taking nutrients from the food we eat, processing them, filtering the blood. In this case, if the liver gets damaged due to some reason, its function is affected.

The main cause of liver swelling is 'hepatitis'.

What is hepatitis?

Swelling of the liver due to any reason is hepatitis. The main reason is the infection of 'hepatotropic virus'. This virus attacks the liver as soon as it gets a chance. As a result, the liver becomes swollen and over time, the cells there are damaged and even killed.

There are many types of hepatitis, which are known as hepatitis 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'E'. All these cause liver disease. The cause and treatment may be different. In which the most visible and causing long-term liver problems are type B and C.

According to the World Health Organization, there are "B" and "C" in 354,000 people worldwide. Which is caused by liver cirrhosis and its cancer.

What kind of hepatitis?

Hepatitis 'A' and 'E': Hepatitis 'A' and 'E' can be transmitted from one person to another through contaminated water and food.

Hepatitis B and C: Hepatitis B is a viral infection that damages the liver. It can be both acute (temporary) and chronic (long). which can be transmitted from mother to child during delivery.

It can be transmitted through semen or vaginal fluid and blood when having sex with an infected person. This infection can be prevented by vaccination against hepatitis B. If C is not identified, liver cirrhosis and liver cancer may occur.

Hepatitis D: Hepatitis D is liver damage due to HDV virus infection. Those who have B can later develop hepatitis D. But it is rarely seen in quantity.

the reason

Viral infections: Especially hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C are caused by viral infections.

Autoimmune conditions: Often the body's immune cells signal that the liver cells have been damaged.

Alcoholic Hepatitis: Alcohol is directly digested by our liver. Excessive alcohol cannot be absorbed by the liver and interferes with its work. Therefore, when a person consumes a lot of alcohol, the risk of hepatitis increases. 40 percent of those who drink too much alcohol are at risk of dying due to liver damage.

Side effects of medicine: This is also a cause of hepatitis. Excessive consumption of certain drugs increases the risk of hepatitis by swelling the liver cells.

Indiscriminate use of herbal Ayurvedic medicines, some allopathic medicines like tuberculosis medicines can also cause hepatitis.

Obesity: Now obesity has also become a cause of hepatitis. After obesity, fatty liver (unnecessary fat) increases in the body. Which can damage liver cells and cause hepatitis. There is a risk of hepatitis in 30 percent in cases of fatty liver.

Symptoms

There are no obvious symptoms of acute hepatitis. However, these symptoms appear in infectious and chronic hepatitis.

– Jaundice

- Those who are addicted to cigarettes will have an uncomfortable experience when drinking

- Change in urine color

- Extreme fatigue

- Vomiting or nausea

- Swelling and pain in the upper abdomen

– Itching

- Sudden weight loss

- Loss of appetite or loss of appetite

Complexity

If hepatitis is not treated and continues to spread, the liver cannot function. Which can cause liver failure, cancer and liver cirrhosis.

In this case, there is a risk of death as well as serious symptoms such as brain fog, blood thickening even if it clots in one place, blood continues to flow and blue spots appear on the body.

How does it cause jaundice?

Bile is released from the liver to digest the food we eat. In this case, if the swelling is caused by the infection, there may be an obstruction in the path of bile flow. Along with that, because bilirubin, which manages the yellowness of the body, cannot work, jaundice can occur.

identification

Hepatitis is diagnosed based on the severity of the symptoms and condition.

- Abdominal ultrasound

– Liver function tests

– “Autoimmune blood marker” test

– Liver biopsy

Treatment

Hepatitis treatment depends on the symptoms, its nature and cause. Temporary hepatitis A and E subsides within a few weeks under medical supervision. With this medicine, the body will gradually heal itself.

Chronic hepatitis B and C cannot be cured by treatment, only control is possible. Hepatitis C can be treated with 95% success rate if it is detected in time and the recommended medication is taken for 12 weeks.

Similarly, in the case of B, even if the treatment is started based on the severity, it is difficult to prevent. In case of liver failure, liver transplantation is also an option.

What should be the diet in hepatitis?

It is easy to manage the problem of hepatitis with the help of a healthy diet. However, what to eat and how much to eat is determined based on its severity and how much of the liver is inflamed.

- Plenty of water, fresh fruits, eating pulses, less fat, egg whites, traditional spices such as onion and garlic, cumin and turmeric can be included in your food.

- Alcohol, junk food, food made from refined flour, processed food should not be eaten.

How to avoid?

- Avoid contaminated food

- Do not take random herbs and medicines

- Don't eat Hachuva as medicine to reduce and increase obesity

- Do not drink alcohol

- Weight control

- Not having unprotected sex

- Stay away from sharp weapons used by others.

'Pollution can have long-term effects on children' Lately, air pollution has been seen high in the major cities of the country including Kathmandu. Even Kathmandu has been included in the list of the most polluted cities in the world. Based on the method of measuring pollution, Kathmandu's air is four times more polluted than normal conditions. This is said based on the amount of 'particulate matter' mixed in the air. The condition of air pollution is determined based on the amount of dust particles i.e. PM 2.5 in the atmosphere. PM 2.5 is fine dust particles in the air with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers, it is a mixed form of solids and chemicals. Since PM 2.5 is very fine, this harmful particle can enter the body and seriously affect the lungs and it may affect health. In this way, what kind of problems can the children's health be caused by the increasing air pollution? What effect does it have on the children of faith? Focusing on these issues, respiratory,
