Isn't it harmful to put a baby in a diaper?
It has become easier for parents since diapers started coming in the market. After wearing a diaper, the child gets relief from the trouble of making stools and urine. It has become easier to put the baby to sleep and take it outside with diapers on. That is why it has become mandatory to wear diapers to the baby these days. The use of diapers is correct to a certain extent, but its excessive use can be harmful.
According to a study by Times Up India, earlier, a chemical called 'Falit' was found in baby diapers. The chemical was found to increase the risk of metabolic disorders, diabetes, liver disorders and even cancer by coming into contact with the skin.
Recently, many types of diapers are available in the market. You should choose a diaper for your baby that uses less chemicals and plastic.
Using diapers can cause these problems for the baby
Diapers are made of chemicals and synthetic materials. Many parents put their baby in diapers overnight. Wearing diapers all night exposes the baby's skin to chemicals for a long time, which can harm the body. It can increase toxicity in the child's body.
If diapers are used for a long time, the child is more likely to get bacterial and fungal infections. Because diapers are made of materials that absorb urine. It also reduces the flow of oxygen to the skin. Because of this, bacteria and other germs are likely to grow. It can damage the baby's skin and cause skin infections. If there are frequent infections, the child's immunity is weak. To avoid this, the baby's diaper should be changed frequently.
Baby's skin is very soft. Due to the harmful synthetic fibers, dyes or other chemical substances found in diapers, the baby's skin may develop allergies, rashes and itching. Many times babies start crying when wearing diapers because it is not comfortable for them. Wearing diapers for a long time can cause irritation to the baby.
If the child continues to wear diapers for a long time, there may be a problem in the child's stool-urine training. Because the child has a habit of urinating and defecating in diapers. Excessive use of diapers can also be harmful to the environment. It is made with the help of plastic, synthetic fiber and other chemicals and it does not get destroyed easily in the environment.
Things to keep in mind when diapering a baby
Depending on the age, the baby's diaper should be changed at intervals of two to three hours. Diapers that can absorb large amounts of urine should be used. Instead of wearing plastic diapers, it is better to wear cotton diapers. Even if that is not possible, you should wear diapers that use less amount of plastic and do not use chemicals.
Diapers can be worn at night for better sleep of mother and child. But it is better not to put the baby in diapers in the afternoon. If you are wearing a diaper when you leave the house, you should take it off when you come home.
The baby's diaper should be cleaned immediately after defecation. After the child urinates or defecates, the diaper should be removed and cleaned with water and cotton. It is better to apply coconut oil or moisturizer before putting on diapers, which can prevent the baby from getting allergic.
A child can be trained to urinate from one and a half years of age. Then it is better not to use diapers.
