Breast cancer can happen to women of any age

Breast cancer is a cancer that occurs in the cells of the breast. This type of cancer is now spreading rapidly in Nepal as well. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women.

The number of breast cancer cases has been increasing in Nepal for the past few years. Generally, breast cancer is more common in women aged 40 to 50 years. But now it is also seen in women aged 25 to 45 years. Not only that, some cases have also been seen in the age group above 20 years.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in European countries. In Asian countries, it was less visible than in Europe. But recently, the number of breast cancer is also increasing in Asian countries. According to the latest data, one out of six women has breast cancer.

Reasons why cancer appears at a young age

The main cause of breast cancer is genetics. But the reason why cancer appears at a young age is the change in our lifestyle and diet. For some years we have adopted a western lifestyle. The number of women who smoke and drink is increasing. Food has also changed. There is no clean food like before, the consumption of processed food and junk food has increased. Because of this, the possibility of breast cancer has increased.

Due to study and career, women have started marrying late. After late marriage, the age of first child bearing is also late. The number of women having their first child after the age of 30 has increased. Maternity leave is given to pregnant women only for three months, due to which they are not able to breastfeed properly. Due to these reasons, the number of breast cancer patients is increasing in Nepal as well as in western countries.

Breast cancer also affects women's reproductive health

Breast cancer also weakens women's fertility. If a woman develops breast cancer at a young age, but is unmarried or recently married, even if she recovers completely after treatment, that woman's fertility is impaired.

Treatment is possible even if the breast is not removed

There was no treatment for breast cancer in Nepal. He had to go to other countries for cancer treatment. But recently, cancer specialist doctors are available in various hospitals in Nepal. Recently, many new technologies have been introduced in the treatment of breast cancer. The technique of performing breast cancer surgery without removing the breast has also been developed now.

Breast cancer can be treated by saving the breast in the first, second and third stages of breast cancer. This treatment method has also created a situation where women have to lose their breasts due to cancer.

If you look at the statistics of the world, among the cancers, the most common cancer was lung cancer, but now if you look at the statistics of 2021, breast cancer is the most common cancer.

Complete recovery with timely treatment

Breast cancer is divided into four stages. First, second, third and fourth. The first and second stages are called initial stages and the third and fourth stages are called advance.

Patients who are treated in the early stages are completely cured. But the chances of complete recovery after the treatment of the patients in the third and fourth stage are very low.

In the first and second stage of cancer, a lump appears around the breast or in the armpit. In the third and fourth stages, the cancer spreads to the lungs, liver, bones and brain.

It was said that breast cancer usually occurs only in women after the age of 40 to 50 years. Now that figure has changed. In recent years, breast cancer has also been seen in the age group of 25 to 40 years.

In Western countries, earlier the number of deaths due to breast cancer was high, but now the number of deaths due to breast cancer has decreased. Because they check for breast cancer in time.

The number of deaths from breast cancer is increasing in our Asian countries. The main reason for that is not checking the breast in time and reaching the hospital only in the third or fourth stage of cancer. Therefore, women over the age of 25 should have a breast examination once a year.

You can also check at home

Self breast examination can be done within seven to 10 days after menstruation if menstruation is on time. You should stand in front of the mirror and look at both your breasts, see the difference in the similarity, size, shape, texture, skin color and roughness of both breasts. Also, attention should be paid to the folds in any part of the breast.

Raise both hands and look at some changes in the armpits while standing in front of the mirror. The right breast should be examined with the left hand and the left breast with the right hand in order. By doing this, some hidden changes in the breast can be clearly seen. If you have any doubts after checking like this, you should go to the hospital and get a doctor's advice.
