Why are the bones of Nepalis becoming weak?

Why are the bones of Nepalis becoming weak?

Today's generation is very raw. Even if it falls from a small place, it will break. Hands and feet are even weaker. There are several examples of broken legs from the heels that are returned while going down the stairs. Neither fast food, nor agricultural work, nor physical exercise. How can the bones be strong?"

You can hear the same from the ancients. They compare the diet, lifestyle, occupation, occupation and habits of the past and present. In their experience, the physical fitness of the current generation is not what it used to be. There is a lot of 'table work' but little physical exercise. They don't even stop walking, they ride a car even for one kilometer. Therefore, the health of this generation is not strong.

They narrate the experience of not breaking their limbs even when they fight with a heavy load of grass or fall from a tree to the ground. There will be a lot of grass, firewood and weeds and the walking path will also go up and down from the fields. Therefore, they have the experience of getting plenty of physical exercise. And the food experience is also very interesting. Take the ghee and milk of a Lainau buffalo and eat it alone. Therefore, they have the experience that bones become strong and minor injuries do not affect anything.

Kailash Bhandari, an orthopedic specialist from Nepal, agrees with Pakapusta's experience. Are the bones of Nepalese getting weaker like the previous generations? Dr. Bhandari says this is partly the reason. Nowadays, bones are broken even in minor injuries, there are many patients who come to the hospital after repeatedly breaking the same arm or leg. During 'History taking', they only say that they fell normally, but the damage to the bones has been done a lot.

The reason given by Dr. Bhandari for this type of bone disease is the same, diet, diet and current food purity. He says, "The food is the same, many people eat junk food (prepared food available in the market) and do not exercise. People don't want to cook food, do physical exercise or even walk, it is becoming more and more difficult. He has more 'table work' and less physical activity. But even in the same food, the amount of protein or other minerals available before and now is getting different. Accuracy is decreasing.

Why the difference in the purity of protein found in the same food before and now? The reason for this is the use of pesticides, the use of modern i.e. chemical fertilizers used on the soil. He argues that this is affecting the purity of protein found in food. Similarly, Dr. Bhandari says that with the reduction of 'outdoor activities', there is a lack of physical exercise and the condition of bones becoming stiff or jammed.

He says that the children of today do not have the availability of a playground to play at home or at school. Look, there is no playground for the children to play, neither at school nor at home. Schools are also often built near roads or on narrow land where there is no land for playing. There was no more talk about the house, after four annas, it was time to build a house, who would think about the playground for the children? In this way, the children of the city have not been able to become physically fit when they have to sit in cramped quarters, said Dr. Bhandari says.

According to him, lazy and boring routine, lack of availability of vitamin D which is needed for bones and the daily life of people who are away from the reach of sunlight are some other reasons for bone weakening. He says that the amount of vitamin D in our body is less than the amount prescribed by the World Health Organization.

Dr. Bhandari, Medical Director of Nepal Orthopedic Hospital in Jorpati, especially expresses concern about the health of children. He says, "Seeing the health condition of the children makes me worry. Their arms and legs have become like chili plants. The reason is food and diet. There are many reasons, I see their bones getting weaker day by day.

In his experience, the current generation is too lazy to climb even one floor, if there is an elevator, they go there. Others are like that who don't want to sweat and work. Increase in the consumption of market food, consumption of alcohol and other intoxicants have also been seen to contribute to bone erosion, while the gradual decrease in nutrition has strengthened the weakness of the bones. Injuries to the body and lack of timely treatment, various diseases including rheumatism and genetics are the causes of this problem.

While suggesting solutions to this situation, Dr. Bhandari sees the availability of calcium, minerals and protein as the most essential. Regular physical exercise, healthy food and yoga are other ways to strengthen bones. This habit not only strengthens the bones but also benefits other physical health. Even if it is diabetes or other diseases, this exercise will help.

In order to strengthen human bones, he suggested that regular physical exercise, healthy eating and timely treatment of bone injuries should be taken to the citizens as a national campaign and the importance of bones in the body and related diseases should be included in the curriculum from school level. He said that since bone related diseases can damage other parts of the body and cause physical disability, it is more necessary to promote its sensitivity.

If the treatment of joints is not complicated and can be done immediately, paralysis can be prevented. Spinal cord injury is a more sensitive issue. When treatment is delayed Some of them have to be treated for the rest of their lives, become disabled, etc. If this happens to the family member who has to take care of the family, then not only that person but the family will suffer. It is important for citizens to be aware of this matter,' said Dr. Bhandari says.

He said that treatment of orthopedic diseases is becoming easier and simpler in Nepal compared to before and now manpower is also increasing. He said, "Firstly, the treatment of bone diseases is very complicated. There was a shortage of manpower, and the shortage of equipment for research and surgery was even greater. Earlier, we had to go outside Kathmandu for orthodontic treatment, but now that is not the case', said Dr. Bhandari said.

'Pollution can have long-term effects on children'

'Pollution can have long-term effects on children' Lately, air pollution has been seen high in the major cities of the country including Kathmandu. Even Kathmandu has been included in the list of the most polluted cities in the world. Based on the method of measuring pollution, Kathmandu's air is four times more polluted than normal conditions. This is said based on the amount of 'particulate matter' mixed in the air. The condition of air pollution is determined based on the amount of dust particles i.e. PM 2.5 in the atmosphere. PM 2.5 is fine dust particles in the air with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers, it is a mixed form of solids and chemicals. Since PM 2.5 is very fine, this harmful particle can enter the body and seriously affect the lungs and it may affect health.
